Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, who doesn’t like that mashup people? I mean you have Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy and Mystique from X-MEN; what’s not to love? Well these two combine forces to make Passengers, and I can honestly say that it is an emotional, sometimes boring yet thrill of a film.
Passengers is about a colony ship called Avalon that is en route to its newest planetary addition, which takes about 200 years to reach. All of its inhabitants, all 5,000, are in hyper sleep. However due to an asteroid collision that affects its shield, Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) is woken up, however eighty years too early and is forced to cope with it on his own and with a bartender android named Arthur. Where Jennifer Lawrence is in this we will not tell as it is a major part of the plot.
Upon watching this film, we could clearly see that for the most part it was not for the faint of heart (mainly because of Jennifer Lawrence’s role). The film does test the mind of what one would do if they were alone in deep space on a technologically advanced ship, especially if you were going to die before your ship reached its destination.
There are laughs, cringing moments and sad scenes; Passengers is a film that makes everyone realize and think hard what they would do in deep space to survive.
Passengers is in theaters now.
