Well as if not seeing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine isn’t enough, we now know that Sir Patrick Stewart, known for his many talented roles, but most of all as Professor Xavier, has announced that he too will be retiring his portrayal of the character, with his role as Xavier in Logan being his last portrayal of the character.
Patrick Stewart first portrayed the powerful psychic Professor Charles Xavier back in 2000 when the first X-MEN film hit theaters. Since then, besides James McAvoy’s portrayal as a younger Xavier, Stewart has played the role alongside Hugh Jackman, in the last two decades.
However upon watching the screening of Logan, Stewart announced his ‘hanging up the chair’ publicly as he felt that his final appearance as the titular character is probably the best interpretation and emotional ending he could have ever thought of creating for the character and thus it was the most proper way of ending his near two decade reign as the character.
Well, at least we still have James McAvoy, I guess.
Logan hits theaters March 3rd, 2017.
