Arnel Pineda is giving Journey fans the power to decide his fate with the band. In a bold move, he’s offered to step down if he receives one million messages asking him to leave.
The frontman shared this surprising proposition on his Facebook page, where he also expressed gratitude to everyone who attended the band’s concerts. Pineda has been part of Journey for over a decade, but it seems he’s ready to leave the decision to the fans.
“I can’t thank you enough,” he wrote to fans who have supported the band’s shows since February. Now, he’s waiting to see what they’ll say next.
Putting His Fate in the Fans’ Hands
Pineda opened up to fans, sharing his gratitude for being part of Journey. He admitted the recent criticism has taken a toll, overshadowing all the good he’s done.
In response, Pineda made a bold offer. He asked fans to vote on whether he should stay or leave, promising to step down if one million “GO” messages are received.
Despite his offer, the reaction was overwhelmingly supportive. Most fans asked him to stay, many sharing heartfelt reasons why he belongs in the band.

Journey’s Lineup Changes and Arnel’s Response to Fans
Steve Perry left Journey after a break to address his bone condition and hip surgery. Following his departure, Steve Augeri took over as lead singer, but he was replaced by Jeff Scott Soto in 2006.
In 2007, Arnel Pineda joined the band, taking over as frontman. While he’s been with Journey for many years now, Pineda has faced both support and criticism from fans who still miss Perry.
In a social media post, Pineda addressed the situation, thanking fans who embraced him. He expressed love for Perry, understanding why some fans still can’t accept the change, but wished for peace regardless.
Bandmates Praise Arnel’s Commitment to the Band
Though the band no longer keeps in touch with Perry, they fully support Pineda as their frontman.
Jonathan Cain highlighted Pineda’s dedication, noting his 16 years with the band. Cain praised him for his energy, commitment, and happiness on tour, adding that Pineda has become Journey’s longest-serving lead singer.
Journey’s current tour kicked off in Blackfoot, Idaho, and will continue with shows in Japan and the U.S. The tour wraps up in Nashville on March 12.
