Steve Perry is gearing up for a new chapter in his music career. The former Journey frontman recently revealed that he has signed a fresh record deal, sparking excitement among his fans. It’s been a while since Perry has released new material, but it seems the wait might be over soon.
Perry has teamed up with Dark Horse Records, the label founded by George Harrison. In a statement, he shared his excitement about the partnership, mentioning that he still has a lot of music left in him that hasn’t been heard yet. This new deal has given him the platform he needs to bring those songs to life.
With this announcement, there’s growing anticipation about what Perry will release next. Fans can’t wait to see what creative direction he takes as he starts working with a new team that values his artistic vision.
Steve Perry’s Next Holiday Project
Perry hasn’t released a studio album of new material since Traces in 2018. However, fans have been treated to a remixed version of that album, Traces (Alternate Versions & Sketches) in 2020, followed by his 2021 holiday album, The Season.
Now, Perry is continuing his holiday tradition with his first release under Dark Horse Records. Titled The Season 3, this project will add six more songs to his growing collection of holiday music, further showcasing his love for the festive season.
Reflecting on his connection to holiday songs, Perry shared, “I’ve always loved the magic in holiday songs. Hearing them as a child in my grandmother’s kitchen brings back so many wonderful memories, and that magic still lives in those tunes today.”
Expanding His Holiday Collection
The former Journey frontman believes in the emotional power of music, calling it “a very emotional gift.” His latest holiday project, The Season 3, reflects that sentiment, as he adds six new tracks to the collection. The new additions bring the total number of songs to 16, making it his most extensive holiday release yet.
The Season 3 features Yuletide classics like “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” But Perry didn’t stop there. He also included timeless songs like “What a Wonderful World” and “Call Me Irresponsible.” The latter, which won an Academy Award in 1963, has been covered by legends like Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin.
In a special twist, Perry’s version of “Call Me Irresponsible” is a duet with his late father, Ray Perry. Ray, a musician himself, adds a personal touch to the track, making this collaboration deeply meaningful for the singer.
